Although, the Nissan LEAF and Chevy Volt have taken up most of the EV news spotlight recently, here's a reminder that Ford is launching their first all-electric production vehicle, the Focus Electric, in early 2011. The automaker has announced that the initial markets for the EV will be Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, New York, Orlando, Phoenix, Tucson, Portland, Raleigh-Durham, Richmond, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
The Focus Electric has a 100-mile range on a fully-charged battery. It's using a 23 kWh lithium-ion battery with a liquid heating and cooling system for maximizing battery range and consistency.
Ford has said that the initial markets will serve as pilot programs for the Focus Electric and EV charging stations and infrastructure start to spread thoughout the country, it will introduce the EV into additional markets.
