Green License Plates in Ontario Come with Privileges

greenlicenseplate
Canada's province of Ontario has a plan that, by 2020, 1 of every 20 cars on the road should be an electric vehicle. To encourage drives to adopt hybrids and cialis prescription label electric vehicles, a new license plate is being offered for green vehicles.

Vehicles bearing the new plates will be eligible for a number of special perks, including use of recharging stations and special parking spaces. But the most compelling benefit the new plates will offer is jaygalbraith.com allowing vehicles to use carpool lanes, even if there's just one person in the vehicle. The carpool lane benefit extends until 2015.

In the past, when other municipalities and government agencies have allowed benefits like this, the value of the perk has sometimes been as much as several thousand dollars on vehicle resales. This is another way to encourage matters in order to reach a goal like 5% hybrid or electric vehicles in little more than a decade.

I don't think you can argue with this (apart from maybe carping about hybrids not being all that). You've got to http://www.eastgreenbushlibrary.org/cheapest-cialis-in-uk give it some carrot, it can't be all about stick!

I really like the cheap cialis online no prescription idea of allowing them to access the carpool lane! Maybe in the future they'll have priority lanes dedicated just to green cars...

I hope every state takes Ontario's idea into consideration. The problem I see though is that the price tag for this. They'd need to make sure there is enough recharging stations to use for it to be even worth it too.

I think Arizona and several other states have been doing the same thing for a few years now. When I lived in AZ I had a special plate for alternate fuel (hybrid) and it had clouds and a blue sky. As long as you had the plate you could use the HOV lanes all you wanted.

Dumb idea, the government could raise more money by auctioning off access to carpool lanes rather than just giving access away for free.

Great idea! "But the most compelling benefit the new plates will offer is allowing vehicles to use carpool lanes, even if there's just one person in the vehicle." This is indeed a very attractive incentive that doesn't cost the taxpayer. I don't have a problem with "just one person in the vehicle" either, after all, the purpose of the carpool lane is to cut down on vehicle emissions.I also like the idea of a cool license plate. It strikes me that these are very practical ideas for cash-strapped Provinces.
